How do I clean my Insulated shade? There are several methods you may use to care for your Functional Art Insulated shades. Vaccuming or dusting your shades should keep them fresh for years to come, but "spot cleaning" the cover fabric may be necessary for inadvertant stains. You can use a spray-on upholstery cleaner and vacuum your shade while it is still hanging, or if you wish, dry-cleaning in a non-immersion cleaning method only.

How should I cover a sliding glass door? Sliding doors can be covered with one Roman shade using an outside mount so the shades will gather entirely above the door when raised. You can also use the side draw system. The side draw shade is an excellent choice for a cordless system, making it a child safe shade.

Magnets? My windows aren't metal. Magnetic strips are attached to your existing window frame, no matter what the material is. Additionally, you can paint the magnetic strip to better blend with your woodwork.

How they work

Functional Art Insulated Window Treatments are composed of a five layer system, designed to give the maximum insulating factor available in a window treatment. The sides are magnetically sealed to prevent draft and reduce heat loss.

The five layer system includes:

You choice of color fabric
Metallized Mylar with needled air-trapping polyester fibers
Reflective polyethylene vapor barrier
High density needled hollow fibers
Moisture resistant lining

You can open Functional Art Insulated Window Treatments in the day to let the sun heat your home, and close them at night to keep the winter cold out.

Functional Art Insulated Window Treatments are carefully engineered to combat all four major causes of heat loss.

Conduction is reduced by trapped air spaces between the fibers and layers of insulated fabric.
Infiltration is reduced by the impervious polyethylene and tight magnetic edge seal.
Convection is reduced by the magnetic edge seal.
Radiation is reduced by the reflective metalized poly film which reflects radiant heat back into your home and also reflects away solar gain in summer.
